How do I start writing a blog? | Pink Lime Mango

Just start.

I have learned a few tips like dictate into notes on my phone and then put through Grammarly if you’re worried about your grammar. I have googled my product (polymer clay earrings) and will use that to create potential blog title ideas. I’ve looked at questions people ask about polymer clay earrings, and I sent out a survey asking what their biggest challenge is with buying earrings. I was put off continuing with blog writing by a previous mentor who said that she’s never heard of anyone buying anything after reading a blog. I have asked marketing managers if they think blog posts still drive traffic to websites and potentially lead to sales and the answer is yes.

I think just getting the first blog post out after a long break will be inspiring and motivate me to create more. I think not worrying about my grammar so much will help. I have written essays and critical reviews as part of my Masters Degree in Fine Art. However, I still hesitate about my vocabulary, my spelling, and my grammar. There are many tools to help with this. I’m not the only one, members of my family have dyslexia, so they can provide advice on what tools they used.

I’m excited to start putting my blog post ideas into action. There are a few drafts where I tell my story and go into detail but I’m not sure if I will post this yet. I am thinking more about writing blog posts related to my industry. Posts about explaining sensitivities to metals because that’s what I’m making earrings for, people that have metal sensitivities. I worry about not being an expert but I have learned things along the way that other people might feel is useful and it may be less intimidating to read a blog post that isn’t written by a scientist, it’s not going to be in a technical language.

I aim to write a blog post once a week and I will dedicate one day a week to doing this. I think the benefits for me are that it will provide content for my social media and it will provide some interesting newsletters for my subscribers. They could learn some tips or gain some advice. It would lead people back to my website to see this amazing, beautiful jewellery I’m creating. It’s a really good time because it’s just before Christmas so there are present ideas ready for them.
